The numbers 6 and 22 have the sum of 28 ... and their differences are -16.

6 + 22 = 28

6 - 22 = -16.

The answer came by through guess and check. Starting with 1 + 27, 2 + 26... (and finding their differences at the same time). Guess and check works. :)
