This is true simply because a 'line' in math is perfectly straight. There for when checking the rise over run, it will always be the same value.

Properties of a slope?

The slope of a line can be determined by examining the graph; only one line through a point has a particular slope.

The slope of a line is -3. Find the slope of a line that is perpendicular to this line. The slope of a line is -3.?

The slope of two lines are perpendicular only if their slopes multiplied together equal -1 (m1*m2 = -1). So if a line has a slope of -3 then a line perpendicular to this one has a slope of -1/-3 or 1/3.

Can there be more than one slope on a linear graph?

One line can have only one slope. It is possible to draw more than one line on a single graph, however.

How do you find the x-intercept of a line?

On one of my projects for my algebra class...my professor is asking us to find the slope of a line which is fairly easy.....but i only have one point and it's impossible to find a slope with only one point....what am i doing wrong? What is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to it?

The slope of a line perpendicular to one with a slope of m is -1/m.

If one line has a slope of then the slope of a line parallel to it would be?

The same. Parallel lines have the same slope.

If two lines are parallel and one has a slope of 1.3 what is the slope of the other line?

If two lines are parallel and one has a slope of 1.3, what is the slope of the other line?

What is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to the line whose equation is 2y x - 1?

Get the slope of the given line, by putting it into slope-intercept form. Then you can divide minus one by this slope, to get the slope of any perpendicular line.

Two lines are perpendicular If one line has a slope of 1 21 what is the slope of the other line?

The slope of a line and the perpendicular to that line, when multiplied together, give -1. So, if the first line has a slope of 1/21, the second has a slope of -21.

If AB is parallel to CD and the slope of CD is one over two what is the slope of AB?

The slope of line AB will be 1/2. Two parallel lines will always have the same slope, so if you know the slope of one line that is parallel to another, you know the other line's slope.

When you graph a line using only the slope and a point what step do you start with?

When you graph a line using only the slope and a point, you start by graphing the point.

There exists only one point-slope equation for a single line?
