Best Answer

With all the addition and subtraction signs missing, I will substitute a plus sign in front of all of them:

We have the slope 3x + 2y = 5

Rearrange to the gradient-intercept form:

2y = 5 - 3x

y = 2.5 - 1.5x

When y = mx + b, m is the gradient (slope) and b is the y intercept.

So in this case, the gradient (slope) is -1.5 and the y intercept is 2.5

Is 3x plus 2y equals 5 and 3x plus 2y equals 9 perpendicular or parallel?

We need to get both equations into slope-intercept form. If they are parallel, they will have the same slope. If they are perpendicular, they will have slopes that when multiplied equal -1. (unless one line is horizontal and the other vertical) 3x+2y=5 2y=5-3x y=(-3/2)x+(5/2) 3x+2y=9 2y=9-3x y=(-3/2)x+(9/2) The two lines are parallel, since both slopes are equal to (-3/2).

Rewrite the equation 5x-2y0 in slope-intercept form?

5x - 2y = 05x - 5x - 2y = 0 - 5x-2y = - 5x(-2y)/-2 = (-5x)/-2y = (5/2)x where the slope is 5/2 and the y-intercept is 0.
