x = (-b +/- √(b2 - 4ac)) / 2a

in the above equation (assuming x2 = x2) : a=1, b=-14, c=-4

Therefore x = (-(-14) +/- √((-14)2 - 4(1)(-4))) / 2(1)

= (14 +/- √(196+16))/2

= (14 +/- √(212))/2

= (14 + 2√(53))/2 and (14 - 2√(53))/2

Not a very clean answer. In decimals it's approximately 14.28 or -0.28.
