f(x) = ...f is the name of the function, and x is the variable. I guess you could say x is the root of the function, because it is what the function relies on.
The only function that can be symmetric about the x-axis is the x-axis itself. For each value of x a function, f(x), can have at most one value for f(x). Otherwise it is a mapping or relationship but not a function.
Function "f" depends on "x", and function "g" depends on function "f".
Either - or both - can be true.
A function of x means that the answers depends on the value of x that is substituted into the function. For example: y = x + 1 If x = 1, y = 2 If x = 2, y = 3 and so on.

[CTRL]+C is achieved by holding CTRL while pressing C.

Simply pressing Ctrl+Alt+F3 (or one of the other function keys will switch you to a terminal where you can log in and perform work. Depending on your distro, the X server is already running on one of the terminals; just press Ctrl+Alt and one of the function keys until you find it to switch back. On Ubuntu and Debian, this should be F7.

CTRL+X is used in Microsoft Office (as well as most other PC programs) to cut any highlighted data. This can include text, files and folders, as examples. After you use CTRL+X to cut text, you can use CTRL+V to paste it to the desired location.
