Mean means to add up what you have and divide how many are there like for example: 1 1 1 2 4 6 9 0 add all of them first you will get 24 right?? and after that you take 24 and divide by how many values/ numbers do you have. So the mean of the numbers is 3. (It is basicly just the average.)
All the numbers in a set of data added together then divided by the total amount of numbers.
Ex. 1,2,3
Step 1: Add 1 and 2. 1+2=3
Step 2: Add 3 and 3. 3+3=6
Step 3: Count the total amount of numbers. 1 is 1, 2 is 2, and 3 is 3. Total amount of #'s 3.
Step 4: Divide 6 by 3. 6/3=2
Step 5: Take answer and that is the mean! Mean=2
you add all of your numbers together and then dividing them by the number of terms ( in other words the number of numbers.)
An "arithmetic mean," or just "mean" for short, is an average of numbers. It's what you get when you take a bunch of numbers and add them together, then divide this new number by the original number of numbers. EXAMPLE: Four kids have lollipops. Sara has six lollipops, James has four, Kelly has eight and Sam has two. So altogether, there's 20 lollipops. 6+4+8+2=20 There are four kids, so you divide all twenty evenly between the four of them. Thus, they get five lollipops each. 20/4=5 Which is to say: the mean of six, four, eight and two is five. Does that make sense? Means are how you get people saying weird things like "every family in Australia has 2.42 kids." They count how many kids there are in Australia, then divide it by the number of families there.
