There is no difference between multiplying proper fractions and multiplying a proper fraction by an improper one.

Change the mixed fraction back into an improper fraction then multiply acros. For example, 2 1/4 times 2/3

= 9/4 * 2/3 = 18/12 = 3/2

= 1 1/2 (one and a half)

yes and then you eat chicken with a pancake on your head no just kidding this is a very good answer hope you understand

How do you multipy mixed numbers by mixed numbers?

Change each mixed fraction to an improper fraction. Do this by multiplying the denominator by the whole number next to the fraction and then adding the numerator to the product you get. Once you do this, multiply fractions normally.

When adding fractions do you change mixed numbers into improper fractions?

not necessarily no not unless the prompt ask you too then i suggest you shouldn't it is quite simple to do without and in my opinion MUCH easier.

How do you change a mix fraction to a proper fraction give an example?

Mixed fractions can't become proper fractions. Mixed fractions are greater than one.

How do you multiply mixed numbers by mixed numbers?

a mixed number is a mixture a whole number (Ex. 2,6,3,4,67,23,546) and a fraciton (4/6,4/7,346/346,2346/2346). mixed numbers could llook like 4 1/5 or 6 7/8 to multiply mixed fractions you need to make them into improper fractions. imporper fractions means when the top number is bigger than the bottom number... like... 23456/2, 3/2, 5/2, 8/2 Lets take 4 1/5 and 6 7/8 as our example first put them as improper fractions. to do this you have to multiply the denominator by the whole number on the left then you add the numerator to that product. so 4 1/5 would be 21/5 as an improper fraction and 6 7/8 would be 55/8 as an improper fraction and then multiplying is just simple. just multiply both numerators by each other and both denominaters by each other. (21 * 55) / (5 * 8) = 1155/40 = 231/8 is the fraction in lowest terms. i hope that helped. if you need any more help feel free to ask me on my message baord.
