How do you round to the underlined place value position?

-- Look at the digit that is underlined. Stare at it. Fix it in your mind's eye.

Be sure you know clearly which digit it is, and don't forget it.

-- Now look at the digit to the right of it. Is that one a ' 5 ' or more ?

. . . . . If the digit is a ' 5 ' or more, then increase the underlined digit by ' 1 '.

. . . . . If the digit is less than a ' 5 ', then do nothing, and go on to the next step.

-- Now, change all digits to the right of the underlined one to ' zero '.

When rounding to a specific place, take a look at the digit immediately to the right of the target. If that digit is 4 or less, zero everything to the right of the target out. If that digit is 5 through 9, increase the target by one and zero everything to the right of it out. If the target is a 9, increasing it will turn it to zero and increase the digit to the left of the target by one.
