-6 = x/12

Move the number next to the variable, in this case the x, over the other side of the equals sign, but remember that as you are doing this you MUST change the sign to the opposite. Since x/12 equals x over 12, it means it is x divided by 12. When moved over the equals sign, it WILL become a multiplication sign.

-6 x 12 = x

-72 = x

x = -72.
