A Decimal fraction is based on powers of ten, and consists of a whole number or 0, the decimal point (properly a dot half-way up the character height, but which has to be a full-stop mark in this text editor) and the fraction itself. . For example, that 3/4 in vulgar fractions = 0.75 to two decimal places, which = 0 + seven-tenths + five-hundredths
