turn off circuits one at a time until one of the outlets you are concerned about goes off, and leave it off now check the OTHER outlets you are concerned about if any of the OTHER outlets are still alive, then they are on a different circuit

To determine which outlet a light switch controls, turn the switch off and test the outlets with a lamp or device. Once you find the outlet that loses power when the switch is turned off, you've identified the controlled outlet. Alternatively, you can use a circuit tester to trace the wiring and identify which outlet is connected to the switch.

Plug a table lamp into the receptacle and turn on the switch. Make sure that you do both the top and bottom positions on the receptacle Some times just the top half or bottom half of a duplex receptacle are switched and the other half is regular un-switched power.

Sometimes it is written on the door. One person disconnects the fuse while another person tell them when the power goes out. Some systems used two breakers in a room with overhead lighting on still another circuit.

Sure, but the new outlet will be restricted to the amps rating of the fuse for the original outlet. You're basically making a hardwired extension cord.

Why won't a three way lamp switch work with a wall controlled outlet?

A three-way lamp switch is designed for controlling the brightness of a three-way light bulb, not for controlling an outlet. A wall-controlled outlet typically has a simple on/off switch mechanism, which is different from the dimming functionality of a three-way lamp switch. They are not compatible due to their different functionalities.

How do you get electricity to a wall switch when getting electircity from an outlet?

You can connect the wall switch to the outlet by running electrical wire from the outlet to the switch. The wire should be connected to the power source at the outlet and then routed to the switch to control the flow of electricity. It's important to follow proper electrical wiring procedures and ensure the circuit is turned off before making any connections.

Add new gfci from an existing switch?

To add a new GFCI outlet from an existing switch, you will need to run a new cable from the existing switch to the location where you want to install the GFCI outlet. Connect the new cable to the line side of the switch to ensure that the GFCI outlet is always powered. Make sure to follow all electrical codes and safety precautions while completing this task. If you are unsure about your ability to complete this task, it is recommended to consult a licensed electrician.
