I am not quite sure if you are asking me to factor this or solve it. So i guess I'll do both:

Factoring:

x2-10x+16

x2-2x-8x+16

x(x-2)-8(x-2)

(x-8)(x-2)

Solving:

You set this factored version of the equation to zero and solve by figurin out x-value would cause the equation to equal zero. This can be done by taking each bracket and making them equal zero, because if one of the brackets were to equal zero, then the equation would go to zero ebcause anything times zero equals zero.

x-8=0

x=8

this means one of the answers is 8

x-2=0

x=2

this means the other answer is 2

So the final answer would be x=2,8
