use pythagorean theorem where a2+b2=c2

(w+2)2+w2=102

2w2+4x+4=100

2w2+4x-96=0

divide by 2

w2 +2x-96=0

factor it

(w-6)(w+8)0

you're answer is 6 centimeters because it can't be negative
