∙ 7y agoThe quadratic formula can be used to find the solutions of a quadratic equation - not a linear or cubic, or non-polynomial equation.
The quadratic formula will always provide the solutions to a quadratic equation - whether the solutions are rational, real or complex numbers.

The coefficent of the x2 can't be 0
There can be no term whose degree is higher than 2
The two solutions are coincident.
The quadratic formula is used to solve the quadratic equation. Many equations in which the variable is squared can be written as a quadratic equation, and then solved with the quadratic formula.
you use the quadratic formula in math when the quadratic equation you are solving cannot be factored.
1.1x2 + 3.3x + 4 = 6 First rearrange the equation to equal zero so that we can use the quadratic formula. 1.1x2 + 3.3x - 2 = 0 Using the quadratic formula, the solutions are x = -3.52 and x = 0.52 Both of these solutions are real, so the original equation has two real solutions.
The quadratic formula cannot be used to solve an equation if the coefficient of the equation's x2-term is 0.
This formula is called the quadratic formula.
A quadratic equation normally has 2 solutions and can be solved by using the quadratic equation formula.
There are an infinite number of different quadratic equations. The quadratic formula is a single formula that can be used to find the pair of solutions to every quadratic equation.
To find the roots (solutions) of a quadratic equation.
The two solutions are coincident.
A quadratic equation can have either two real solutions or no real solutions.
That the discriminant of the quadratic equation must be greater or equal to zero for it to have solutions. If the discriminant is less than zero then the quadratic equation will have no solutions.
I suggest you use the quadratic formula.
It is a quadratic equation and its solutions can be found by using the quadratic equation formula.
To find the solutions of x in a quadratic equation.
the formula you are going to use to answer the equation
If the discriminant of b2-4ac in the quadratic equation formula is less than zero then the equation will have no real roots.
