Best Answer

The Sampling time means that at how much interval of time the continuous time signal is recorded

For example

If we have a simple square wave starting from 0 sec and ends at 5 sec with magnitude of 1 and let sampling time is Ts=0.5 second

Then the no. of samples obtained will be after each 0.5 second. So total number of samples will be 10.

Check it graphically and it will be more easy to understand.

What happens to the sample mean as the sample size increases?

With a good sample, the sample mean gets closer to the population mean.

When using the distribution of sample mean to estimate the population mean what is the benefit of using larger sample sizes?

The variance decreases with a larger sample so that the sample mean is likely to be closer to the population mean.

A Numerical Measure from a Sample Such as a Sample Mean Is Known?

sample statistic

What is the difference between calculating the sample mean and the population mean?

You calculate the actual sample mean, and from that number, you then estimate the probable mean (or the range) of the population from which that sample was drawn.

Why is the sample mean an unbiased estimator of the population mean?

The sample mean is an unbiased estimator of the population mean because the average of all the possible sample means of size n is equal to the population mean.

What is population mean in statistics?

The population mean is the mean value of the entire population. Contrast this with sample mean, which is the mean value of a sample of the population.

What is a purposive sample?

Propulsive Sampling Mean a sample which we can take randomly

How does one calculate the standard error of the sample mean?

Standard error of the sample mean is calculated dividing the the sample estimate of population standard deviation ("sample standard deviation") by the square root of sample size.

As the sample size increase the difference between the sample mean and the population mean approaches what?

Zero

How does increasing the sample size affect the sample error of the mean?

It should reduce the sample error.

What is the expected shape of the distribution of the sample mean?

The distribution of the sample mean is bell-shaped or is a normal distribution.

Is N the sample or population mean?

N is neither the sample or population mean. The letter N represents the population size while the small case letter n represents sample size. The symbol of sample mean is x̄ ,while the symbol for population mean is µ.
