You can't tell. There are an infinite number of rectangles with different perimeters

that all have the same area. Here are a few with areas of 36:

1 x 36 . . . . . P = 74

2 x 18 . . . . . P = 40

3 x 12 . . . . . P = 30

4 x 9 . . . . . . P = 26

5 x 7.2 . . . . P = 24.4

6 x 6 . . . . . P = 24

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?
